How Page Ranks Works !

Page Rank, page rank and all web masters are talking about! What’s this other thing?

PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. Google figures that when one page links to another page, it is effectively casting a vote for the other page. The more votes that are cast for a page, the more important the page must be. Also, the importance of the page that is casting the vote determines how important the vote itself is. Google calculates a page’s importance from the votes cast for it. How important each vote is is taken into account when a page’s PageRank is calculated.
PageRank is Google’s way of deciding a page’s importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page’s ranking in the search results. It isn’t the only factor that Google uses to rank pages, but it is an important one.

How to increase your page rank ?

It’s easy to increase page rank, simply by linking to other sites and also to be linked (this is what we call links exchange). You can also use my future service : http://hittracker.freehostia.com that will help you increase your Page Rank. PR don’t mean that you have a huge number of visitor. You can have a high PR while you don’t have visitors. But it’s related! If you have a high PR Google will display your sites before others sites (that have less page ranks) Also if you have a high page rank this means that your site is linked by other sites that have high Page Rank (as they have a high page rank, they have good traffic) and then they direct traffic to you :) So as your Page Rank is higher as you have more visitors from sites that link to you and Google

How Page Rank is calculated ?

To calculate the PageRank for a page, all of its inbound links are taken into account. These are links from within the site and links from outside the site.
PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + … + PR(tn)/C(tn))
That’s the equation that calculates a page’s PageRank. It’s the original one that was published when PageRank was being developed, and it is probable that Google uses a variation of it but they aren’t telling us what it is. It doesn’t matter though, as this equation is good enough.
In the equation ‘t1 - tn’ are pages linking to page A, ‘C’ is the number of outbound links that a page has and ‘d’ is a damping factor, usually set to 0.85.
We can think of it in a simpler way:-
a page’s PageRank = 0.15 + 0.85 * (a “share” of the PageRank of every page that links to it)
“share” = the linking page’s PageRank divided by the number of outbound links on the page.

How to know Sites linking to me and the Page Rank ?

To know sites that link to your site, type “link:http://yoursite.com” in google and google will search for you.
For the Page Rank download Google ToolBar and it will displays Page Rank Information for each page

Announcing the next generation in Windows Live apps & services

Today the Windows Live team announces the final release of the Windows Live suite of applications and web services designed to enhance the Windows user experience.  Consumers can now download the full Windows Live suite at once or pick and choose their favorite apps and services.

Why Windows Live on this blog?  Simply put, the two product platforms are now linked more than ever before.  Windows Live includes the Windows name because, ultimately, it is designed to take the Windows computing experience one step further.  The power of the PC is now combined with the flexibility and pervasiveness of Windows Live online services.  For example, the Windows Live Photo Gallery client app for Windows Vista now includes panoramic photo stitch and the ability to publish to Flickr.

This release comprises these Windows Live Applications:

  • Windows Live Messenger 8.5
  • Windows Live Mail
  • Windows Live Writer
  • Windows Live Photo Gallery
  • Windows Live OneCare Family Safety

…and these Windows Live Services:

  • Windows Live Spaces
  • Windows Live Events
  • Windows Live Hotmail
  • Windows Live for Windows Mobile (client-based or browser-based access to Windows Live from a Windows Mobile-based device)

To install the final versions of the Windows Live suite of applications, go here to access the Windows Live installer, which will let you pick and choose among the available applications.  New in this release is installer support for 64-bit PCs.

If you choose not to install all of the Windows Live applications at once, you can re-launch the Windows Live installer to install any of the remaining Windows Live applications whenever you wish.

Going forward, we’ll be covering more of how the new Windows Live applications enhance the Windows Vista user experience both here and on the Windows Experience Blog.  Expect us to dive deep into each specific Windows Live application.

Meantime, be sure to check out the Q&A over with Chris Jones, Corporate Vice President of Windows Live Experience Program Management, where Chris details what makes today’s release a compelling one for consumer users, developers and advertisers alike.

Download DirectX 10.1 with Shader Model 4.1 from Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) using Registry hack

DirectX 10.1 is an extension to DX 10.0 by Microsoft available in Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Build 6001.16659 and Windows Server 2008 codenamed Longhorn . As per Softpedia, the new features of DirectX 10.1 can be divided into three general categories: new shading and texturing capabilities, anti-aliasing improvements, and tighter specifications, the details of which can be found in AMD-ATI’s whitepaper for DX 10.1.

Advantages include global illumination delivering lighting and shadow quality in real-time that matches the ray tracing techniques used in CG films, improved anti-aliasing techniques to clean up distracting shimmering artifacts, and tighter specifications for improved compatibility.

Utilizing the new features of DirectX 10.1 will require you to have a new GPU hardware such as ATI Radeon HD 3800. But it is obviously backward compatible with any graphic card.

To download Direct X 10.1 for Windows Vista, you will need to install Service Pack 1 through Windows Update Services using a registry hack.

1)Save the below given code as direct10.cmd

@echo off
reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\VistaSp1 /v Beta1 /t REG_SZ /d a2c3c14a-9586-4d37-9aaa-79fbd64069d2 /f

echo Vista SP1 registry key has been set. Please check for updates in Windows Update.

2) Then run the batch file with elevated administrator privileges.

3) Install and reboot the computer after installing each update: KB935509, KB937287 and KB93837.

4) After the final reboot, you will get the option to download Windows Vista SP1 in Windows Update.

5) Verify that you have DirectX 10.1 by running dxdiag from the command prompt.
